
The RCID were asked to create an animation illustrating the operation of a prototype hull cleaning robot. The animation was to be used at a conference to help demonstrate the key features of the robot design in its normal working environment.
Detailed 3D models of the robot components were created in Solidworks and the functionality and features from storyboard drawings were added to the robot CAD models. Material properties and lighting were added to the models to provide additional realism. A number of small animation renders for each stage were produced and stitched together to produce the complete robot cleaning animation.
