BackgroundA client approached the RCID with an initial design for a wireless sensor. The client required modifications to the design and a number of working prototypes developing.
Using Altium Designer 6, the RCID produced the electronics design. Analogue signals from various sensors are conditioned and sampled by the onboard microcontroller. Data is then transmitted using ZigBee® to a central PC for collection and analysis.
The RCID’s electronics design engineers worked closely with the mechanical design engineers to specify and lay out the PCB. The RCID then produced a fully housed and working prototype allowing the client to gather market research and feedback on the use of the device.
